01 · Federal

Authority & federal filings

What you need to run under your own name.

Your carrier ID with the FMCSA. Required for interstate commercial vehicles over 10,001 lbs and for many California intrastate carriers. We handle new applications, biennial updates and reactivations.

MC operating authority

Required to haul regulated freight for-hire across state lines. We file the application and coordinate your insurance filings so your authority goes active.

2290

Form 2290 (heavy vehicle use tax)

The IRS return for trucks 55,000 lbs and over. We file your 2290 and get your stamped Schedule 1, which you need for IRP plates.

For carriers running in our home state.

CA #

California carrier ID

Identifies motor carriers operating in California, tied to CHP safety programs. We set it up and keep it current.

03 · Multi-state

IRP

International Registration Plan

Apportioned plates for trucks crossing state lines, with fees split by miles in each state. We handle applications and renewals.

04 · Weight distance

State weight-mile taxes

Extra accounts some states require on top of IFTA.

Oregon's weight-mile tax applies to trucks over 26,000 lbs. We set up your account, or get you a temporary pass for a single trip.

NY HUT

New York highway use tax

New York's HUT applies to trucks over 18,000 lbs. We get your HUT certificate and decals and help with your returns.

CT

Connecticut highway use fee

Connecticut's mileage-based fee for trucks 26,000 lbs and over. We register your account so you're legal on I-95 and I-84.

The groundwork behind your authority.

BOND

Common questions

Do I need both a USDOT and an MC number?

If you haul regulated freight for-hire across state lines, yes. California-only carriers usually need a USDOT number, CA carrier ID and MCP instead of an MC.

Can you do my permits if I'm insured somewhere else?

Yes. Our permit services are available whether or not we write your insurance, though handling both makes filings faster.

How long do permits take?

It varies by agency. Some, like IFTA and IRP, can take a few weeks, so start early if you're launching a new operation.
